Our braking system in our DSM’s is a hydraulic braking system. The brake master cylinder supplies brake fluid to all 4 brake calipers. The master cylinder is the only cylinder in the braking system, unlike the clutch hydraulic system which uses two cylinders, a master cylinder and a slave cylinder. The braking system only uses one cylinder because the brake calipers themselves push fluid back through the system so a second cylinder is not needed.
In the above picture, brake fluid is added into the reservoir to the right. DSM’s can use DOT3, DOT4 or DOT5.1 brake fluid, but you can not mix types. You can only run one type at a time.
