(That being said, while I can’t truly understand what it seems like, I do understand that for POC, that line between”just treat us like everyone else” and”how dare you pretend to Animal Crossing Bells be us” is complex and can differ from person to person. All I could do is try to be kind.) I really don’t think there are situations where dangers, doxxing, or telling someone to kill themselves is okay, and *especially* not when it comes to pixel buns! What the hell, people. I literally can’t imagine myself telling someone to kill themselves, even anonymously.
I really don’t have an opinion to share on this drama but I want to point out this Animal Crossing matches have horrible wavy hairstyles. I’ve got curly hair and have always tried to make my characters seem similar to me IRL. I have never managed to locate anything that doesn’t appear to be a sail boat on my toons head.I am kidding. Tanuki are called raccoon dogs and Tom Nook is known as a raccoon from the localized version of the game.
Expecting this level of comprehension is also vaguely problematic. I’m Australian. I have got a lot of cultural exposure to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander, Central and Indoor and SE Asian PoC. Afro buns are not one of the conventional hairstyles for this area that I am aware. There is categorically no way I would have relating to this cartoon-rendered hair design with any specific culture, and I am not certain why I must be expected to. But I am sure I would be both persecuted on Twitter and it just appears equally as insular to do so.
Somewhat related but not, Marvel comics once made this character called Bishop who was an X-men. Individuals were rather weirded out by Animal Crossing Items For Sale“black guy with straight hair”. And that was something that happened in the area.
