  • Though I have yet to build a 2.4L engine using the 4G64 block with the 4G63 head, it has always been a huge interest of mine and is high up on the bucket list. The biggest advantage of running a 2.4L compared to […]

    • Hi, I’ve been doing alot of research as to the 4g64 block with the 4g63 head. The thing I would like to know, if anyone has some insight, is if it is possible with an automatic transmission. I have a 03 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4 and an wondering if it’s possible. Thank you.

      • A 3G Eclipse is a completely different thing. There are similarities I am sure but many many differences also. I wouldn’t know the specifics.

    • I just bought a 92 Mighty Max bone stock 4g64 sohc. i was wondering if its possible to swap the head on it to dohc and keep it N/A. and when you refer to 1g and 2g does that mean generation? Sorry for the dumb questions, im a honda guy and just got into this truck.

    • Yes it is possible and you are correct, 1G and 2G refer to the generation. 1G is 90-94 and 2G is 95-99.

      • Spooligan thanks for the great info
        I have a 1991 mighty max 5 speed
4g64b wideblock. Was wondering if it would be the same to swap the 4g63 head to the soch 4g64b. Since my valves went bad either fix the block or try to 4g63 head swap it.

        • I don’t personally have any experience with the MM 4G engine, but the DOHC 4G63 head swap should be pretty straight forward and will share some similarities with the DOHC 4G64 head swap.

The early 6 bolt 4G64 motors don’t need to plug anything on the head surface like the 2g 7 bolt spyder motors, a lot of people don’t even know that they can get a 4G64 6 bolt motor and the article above is mostly dealing with a 2g spyder 4G64 7 bolt motor.

        • Hola!Es posible poner también a este bloque con la cabeza de evo 4-9? Saludos!

    • Were you able to complete the swap and follow through with all the additions? I’m currently going through a project of my own and am slowly getting together all the tools and equipment necessary to make the head swap. I’m also doing a rebuild in the process of it all so I’m taking a few more steps but I just want to know if it all worked out for you? I also have been looking at 96-99 DOHC heads to make the swap. I guess I’m curious about how the 94 Galant pieces fit…..Let me know
